MDC Alumnus Leads South Miami Police Department Robert F. Richardson, II is another example of how Miami Dade College can initiate a successful career. Recently, Richardson was appointed acting chief of the City of South Miami Police Department after serving twenty one-years in various positions in the department. Miami native, Richardson earned his associate degree in criminal justice from MDC and went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration. “My experience at MDC was nothing less than gratifying after being out of school for more than 25 years,” Richardson said. “It was a starting point for advancing my career as a supervisor to the next level. Had it not been for MDC, I would not be in the key position of heading up the South Miami Police Department as the chief of police.”
